Senior Visual Designer

Position Purpose 

The Senior Visual Designer specializing in UI/UX is not only responsible for creating beautiful and functional designs but also for driving the design strategy, collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring consistency and continuously optimizing user experiences based on feedback and performance data. This role must drive the creation of user-centered, visually compelling digital products that provide seamless, intuitive experiences, combining both aesthetic design and user experience principles to ensure that products are visually appealing and aligned with user needs and business goals. The senior designer brings a blend of advanced design expertise, strategic thinking, user-centered focus, leadership skills and the ability to effectively collaborate across teams. The role requires both a deep understanding of design principles and a hands-on ability to produce high-quality, user-friendly interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Design Strategy and Conceptualization: Lead the development of design concepts and visual strategies, ensuring alignment with the brand’s identity and user needs. Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to define the product vision and establish design requirements. Conduct design research to understand user behavior, market trends and competitors, using these insights to inform design decisions.
  • UI/UX Design: Create intuitive, visually appealing user interfaces that provide a seamless user experience. Develop wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity mockups and design systems that are both functional and visually attractive. Focus on usability, accessibility and responsiveness to ensure designs work across devices and platforms. Create interaction flows, user journeys and user personas to guide the design process.
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Mentor and guide designers, providing feedback and helping them grow in their skills. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure design solutions are implemented accurately. Communicate design decisions effectively, presenting concepts and ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Prototyping and User Testing: Lead the creation of interactive prototypes to demonstrate design concepts. Conduct user testing (e.g., A/B testing, usability testing) to gather feedback and refine design solutions. Iterate on designs based on user feedback and analytics to continuously improve the user experience
  • Design System and Consistency: Develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and pattern libraries to ensure consistency across products and platforms. Ensure visual consistency in terms of typography, color schemes, iconography and design patterns throughout the product. Advocate for best practices in UI/UX design to maintain high-quality standards
  • Collaboration with Developers: Work closely with front-end and back-end developers to ensure that designs are translated accurately into the final product. Provide design specifications, assets and assets handoff to ensure smooth implementation. Address design challenges during development and ensure that user experience remains intact
  • Brand and Visual Identity: Ensure that all design work is aligned with the company’s visual identity and branding guidelines. Adapt the brand’s visual language to various touchpoints, from mobile apps to websites and digital campaigns
  • Continuous Learning and Innovation: Stay up to date with industry trends, new design tools and best practices. Experiment with emerging technologies, design techniques and innovative ideas to push the boundaries of design and user experience. 
  • Metrics and Performance Tracking: Collaborate with product and marketing teams to track the performance of the design through analytics, identifying areas for improvement. Use data-driven insights to iterate and refine the user interface and user experience over time. 

Qualifications 

  • 7+ years’ experience and portfolio encompassing visual design with proficiency across web, email, app and digital, demonstrating best practices in responsive and interactive design. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in web design, visual arts, communication design, interactive design, or a related field.  
  • A strong portfolio showcasing work in UI design, UX design and visual design, with clear evidence of your design process from research to final product. 
  • 7+ years working cross functionally with teams such as accounts, developers, digital, social and project management.  
  • Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Figma. 
  • Advanced knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript to support the development of web and email components. 
  • Prototyping and Wireframing: Experience with creating wireframes, interactive prototypes and user flows to demonstrate design concepts (e.g., using Figma). 
  • Demonstrated design skills in media other than UX/UI, including video. 
  • UI Design: Strong skills in creating high-fidelity, pixel-perfect interfaces that adhere to design principles, typography, color theory and visual hierarchy. 
  • UX Research & Testing: Experience conducting user research (e.g., interviews, surveys, A/B testing), usability testing and using insights to iterate and refine designs. 
  • Design Systems: Experience in creating or maintaining design systems, style guides and pattern libraries to ensure consistency across the product suite. 
  • Analytics and Metrics: Familiarity with tools like Google Analytics or Hotjar to analyze user behavior and use insights for continuous design improvement. 
  • Information Architecture (IA): Ability to design clear, logical structures and navigation systems for applications and websites. Create videos for social and online platforms (Premiere Pro/After Effects). 
  • Interaction Design: Ability to design effective interactions, including animations, transitions and micro-interactions, ensuring fluid user experiences. 
  • Responsive Design: Experience designing for a range of devices and platforms (e.g., mobile, tablet, desktop), ensuring designs are responsive and adaptive. 
  • Accessibility Design: Understanding and experience in designing for accessibility (WCAG standards) to ensure products are usable by all users, including those with disabilities. 
  • Front-End Development Skills: Knowledge of basic HTML/CSS, JavaScript, or other front-end technologies can be helpful for understanding design feasibility and collaborating with developers.
