Position Purpose/Summary 

The Senior Visual Designer develops and executes creative concepts that align with creative strategy and help establish and communicate the visual expression of our clients’ brands. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the agency to translate client needs into visually engaging solutions that achieve business objectives while acting as a brand guardian. This role reviews junior designers work and provides mentorship. The Senior Visual Designer has a keen interest in innovation, an excellent design eye and strong talents, particularly in motion design. 

Reports to: Creative Director 

Responsibilities 

  • Design Strategy and Conceptualization: Determine the visual design direction for marketing campaigns and brand initiatives. Help define and drive the vision for creative content, design and experiences. Participate in campaign brainstorming and concepting sessions. Be self-motivated in performing research and translate learnings into creative strategies. Develop relevant and unique concepts that support our business objectives, align with creative strategy and strengthen our clients’ brands. 
  • Design Execution: Execute creative based on strategic direction and client business objectives for both consumer and franchise development marketing and branding initiatives, translating concepts into final design assets.  
  • Responsible for the design of campaigns for large national brands, including concepting, execution and revisions 
  • Design engaging materials across digital advertising, social media, email templates  
  • Develop visual concepts for websites, tradeshows, events and promotional materials. 
  • Lead presentation design: internal, client-facing and for new business pitches 
  • Create engaging videos: strong, proven experience in Premier Pro and After Effects 
  • Understand KPIs, analytics and post-launch reporting of campaign to optimize creative performance 
  • Creative Excellence: This role offers the opportunity to shape how our agency’s vision and strategy are communicated visually at the highest levels while working with dynamic teams and contributing to significant business initiatives. Our ideal candidate will combine creative excellence with strong business acumen and exceptional stakeholder management skills.  
  • Organization: Create, maintain and evolve comprehensive brand design systems, including typography, color palettes, photography, videos and client assets. Be meticulous in attention to detail of naming conventions, file set up and storage. Experience in CRM project management software and DAM systems required. 
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the content team and strategists to create graphics and data visualizations which communicate complex problems effectively. Be agile with a flexible attitude, ready to support the team by assuming other team members’ projects mid-flow when capacity dictates. 
  • Mentorship: Mentor junior designers and provide direction to maintain consistent quality and brand standards. Review work and offer constructive feedback based on best practices, high design standards and the business objectives of the project. 

Qualifications 

  • Ideally 5+ years professional visual design experience 
  • Strategic thinker who balances creative vision with business objectives 
  • Strong video creation and editing skills; experience in Premier Pro and After Effects 
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)  
  • Strong understanding of design principles and best practices across digital, UI/UX and print 
  • Exceptional typography skills with meticulous attention to detail 
  • Experience with design tools such as Figma and Sketch 
  • Proven track record in creating successful visual design systems and brand guidelines 
  • Outstanding portfolio demonstrating versatility in style and medium 
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills 
  • Self-motivated with strong initiative and the ability to work independently 
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality 
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Receptive to feedback with the ability to incorporate it effectively 
  • Maintains calm under pressure while effectively managing multiple projects and tight deadlines 
  • Experience with presentation tools (Canva, Powerpoint) 
  • Commitment to developing a deep understand of the company’s brand, product and services, mission, value and key differentiators 
  • Agency experience preferred; corporate experience considered 
  • Follow established processes and procedures, including workflow between teams and external clients 
  • Experience in CMS workflow environments 
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design or Communication Design
