Position Purpose
Curious Jane is hiring a Performance Media Strategist who is responsible for developing data-driven, performance-focused media strategies to achieve specific business outcomes. This role emphasizes media planning, combining strategic campaign development with a deep understanding of how to effectively reach target audiences across paid digital channels. Reports to: Senior Director of Digital Marketing and Analytics
Responsibilities
Media Planning & Strategy Development:
- Design comprehensive media plans that align with overall marketing objectives, ensuring the right media channels are selected to meet performance goals.
- Utilize audience research, understanding target demographics, psychographics, and behaviors to determine the optimal mix of digital media (paid search, display ads, social media, programmatic, video, etc.).
- Collaborate with agency teams to ensure media plans align with broader marketing strategies and campaign objectives.
- Balance short-term goals with long-term brand growth objectives in media planning, ensuring cost-effective and sustainable campaign execution.
Data Analysis & Optimization:
- Use data insights to inform media planning decisions and ongoing campaign optimization.
- Provide detailed, actionable recommendations for future improvements based on metrics such as ROAS, CPA, conversion rates, and audience engagement.
- Share media performance insights with key stakeholders, offering a clear narrative on campaign outcomes and areas for enhancement.
- Recommend audience and creative testing strategies and bid and budget adjustments to ensure campaigns are continuously refined for maximum efficiency and performance.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Coordination:
- Work closely with account, creative, content, and digital teams to ensure media plans are aligned with brand messaging, creative assets, and overall campaign goals.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors for seamless execution of media campaigns.
- Collaborate on proper tracking mechanisms are in place for campaign performance, working with data analysts and developers to implement tagging, attribution models, and conversion tracking.
Thought Leadership:
- Continuously monitor emerging media trends, platforms, and advertising technologies to incorporate into media plans.
- Test new channels, creative formats, and strategies to ensure campaigns remain innovative and ahead of competitors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in performance media, with a focus on media planning and strategy development.
- Expertise in media planning and buying tools (e.g., Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, DSPs), analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics), and budget management tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess campaign performance, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Creative and adaptable mindset with ability to pivot strategies and plans based on performance data and industry shifts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate across teams and present media strategies and results effectively.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage media plans simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and objectives are met.
Nice to have
- Experience with national and local buying strategies
- Experience with programmatic media buying and advanced audience targeting.
- Familiarity with SEO/SEM and how it integrates with paid media strategies.
- Knowledge of conversion rate optimization (CRO) and landing page strategy.
- Experience using additional digital tools like SEMrush, Google Tag Manager, or similar for tracking and optimization.
