Position Purpose/Summary 

We are seeking an Associate Writer with a passion for copywriting who is looking to grow into a senior level copywriting position. The role of the Associate Writer is to contribute to strategy, content, proofreading, editing and administrative responsibilities of the copywriting department.  

We want to hire someone who is excited to work in agency life in the role of a mentee with the opportunity to develop best practices into your creative and technical writing. There is a growth path for this writer, and you will be exposed to high-level creative concepting and productions. 

Reports to: Senior Manager of Creative Content 

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Writing: draft copy for a variety of writing including copy for case studies, e-mail, digital, print, radio, video scripts and campaigns, all with an understanding of the brand voice for the client 
  • Proofreading: participate in internal reviews of creative work while applying client style guides and AP Stylebook best practices 
  • Editing: review and refine copy after receiving feedback internally or from a client 
  • Collaboration: contribute original ideas and strategy in brainstorming sessions 
  • Administrative: help lead administrative tasks by keeping organized files for fellow copywriters, help maintain up-to-date client style guides and create templates for copywriting department 
  • Creative Briefs: understand creative briefs and know the right questions to ask when attending meetings or writing for a client, then be able to take direction and write 
  • Multiplatform Strategies: understand writing strategies for digital, social, web and mass media

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, advertising or marketing 
  • Strategic thinker with excellent communication skills 
  • Two or more years professional writing experience in an agency or writing for a brand is preferred 
  • Excellent copywriting, editing and proofreading skills with experience in marketing/advertising copywriting, brand messaging and promotional copy 
  • Computer savvy with proficiency in various business platforms such as Microsoft Office Suite, Canva and Figma 
  • A strong technical aptitude and attention to detail  
  • Skill in researching and working with complicated subject matter 
  • Exhibited strengths in communication, organization and accountability  
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment 
  • Be an organized time-manager and problem solver 
  • Be committed to this role as a full-time, long-term career
