PR Specialist

Position Purpose/Summary

The role of the PR Specialist is to contribute to the strategy, content, copywriting, public relations, proofreading and editing needs of the agency. The position works with multiple departments and reports to the PR Manager.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write and edit articles, news releases, blogs and pitches
  • Conduct interviews and/or research to write PR pieces on deadline
  • Utilize Cision and other platforms to distribute PR pieces to the media
  • Monitor the news and queries for media opportunities for clients
  • Seek opportunities for thought leadership at key conferences and in publications
  • Produce monthly reports on PR efforts for assigned clients
  • Utilize excellent written and communication skills
  • Think creatively and strategically
  • Work with internal teams to create content for client projects
  • Maintain and update assigned client style guides
  • Proofread and apply style guides to all materials being sent to clients and vendors
  • Keep abreast of AP and industry updates
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with other staff

Qualifications

  • College degree in English, journalism, communications or public relations
  • One year of professional writing experience, journalistic or PR writing preferred
  • Excellent copywriting, editing and proofreading skills
  • Skill in researching and working with complicated subject matter
  • Comfortable working on deadline
  • Strategic thinker with excellent communication skills
  • Computer savvy with proficiency in various business platforms such as Microsoft Office Suite
  • A high technical aptitude and attention to detail

Reporting Relationship

Reports directly to the PR Manager

Work Requirements & Conditions

  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods of time;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced multiple tasking environment with frequent disruptions;
  • The position requires some lifting and filing of documents;
  • Sensitive records will routinely be handled and/or observed in this position;
  • Occasional attendance after normal working hours will be required.
